The 1st Wine Hub Alps Symposium is dedicated to the topic of sustainability in the wine industry and how this can be implemented for example in the areas of viticulture, wine trade, communication or in wine architecture.  Furthermore, we will deal with the latest trends and the development of the drinking behavior of younger wine consumers.

We have engaged a top-class speaker line-up for the expert lectures and panel discussions. For more details on the individual speakers, please scroll to the bottom of the page.

Amanda Wassmer-Bulgin

The British-born sommelière is training to become a Master of Wine and works as Wine Director at the Quellenhof Grand Resort Bad Ragaz, where she sets new accents in wine pairing at her husband Sven Wassmer's three-star restaurant. Her enormous wine knowledge and thirst for knowledge make her a competent speaker and moderator of expert discussions. The topic of sustainability is a matter close to her heart!

Prof. Dr. Hans Reiner Schultz

As President of Geisenheim University and the ENVIRO expert group of the "International Organisation of Vine and Wine" (OIV) for "Sustainable Development and climate change", he is one of the world's leading experts in the field of sustainability.

Juliane Rentsch

In Bordeaux for the past 10 years, she has been marketing Bordeaux Crus in Europe and knows the challenges of the Grands Crus Classés, independent Châteaux and distribution. Her studies in International Wine and Spirits Trade at the Burgundy School of Business, her training in viticulture and her experience in various wine merchants and châteaux allow her to have a global analysis of the question of Bordeaux's ability to remain competitive in tomorrow's world.

Dr. José Vouillamoz

The biologist and grape variety researcher is one of the world's leading authorities on the origin and ancestry of grape varieties through DNA profiling. Born in Valais, he is co-author - together with Jancis Robinson and Julia Harding - of the multi-award-winning book Wine Grapes, the ultimate reference of grape varieties cultivated worldwide.

Tina Fruth

She joined Wine Intelligence in 2018 and holds a BSc in International Business Administration from the Vienna University of Economics and Business, where she specialised in market research. Her love for wine led her to a Master's degree in Vineyard and Cellar Management at Bordeaux Sciences Agro . Wine Intelligence is a leading global player in market research in the wine industry and publisher of market studies.

Mag. Wilhelm Klinger

In his capacity as the CEO of the Austrian Wine Marketing Board (2007 – 2019), Willi Klinger was instumental in the implementation and communication strategy of the „Certified Sustainable Austria“ Programme of the Austrian Winegrowers‘ Association starting in 2014. In his presentation he uses his experiences including conflicts between the concepts of „organic“ and „sustainable“ as starting point for an unbiased exposition of this complex matter in comparison with some international examples.

Madelyne Eicher-Meyer

She worked at wineries in California and studied Wine Management in Bordeaux. In 2014, she started her mission "to bring wine to people in an uncomplicated way " with a wine blog and wine courses. Today, eight years later, she is a best-selling author, lecturer and founder of her wine shop edvinweine.ch.

Felix Christen

Qualified oenologist with more than 30 years of experience in the wine industry. Before becoming self-employed, he was responsible for purchasing wine, cheese and cigars in Switzerland and Germany. Today, with his company winiconsult wine&more (wine - food - luxury food sector), he is mainly active as a Wine Business Development consultant and board member.

Santiago Sánchez

The Spanish-born architect has 23 years of international experience (Switzerland and Spain) and is specialised in the design and construction of sustainable industrial buildings and winery architecture. His an expert in timber construction and member of the Swiss Society of Engineers and Architects (SIA) and a certified instructor in the profession of draftsman EFZ in architecture.
