The ancestral, local grape varieties have been able to go through many different climates over the last centuries. They represent a fantastic reservoir of genetic diversity to cope with climate change. Their intra-varietal biodiversity must be better studied with appropriate conservation programs. In addition, for each variety we must identify the most appropriate rootstock for each terroir. The combinations are almost limitless!
